Solwake Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 September 2026
Solwake is a sunrise alarm. It is built to work on your device without an account, and it collects as little as it can.
What stays on your device
- Your location (or the city you typed), your sleep rules, alarm times, the nights you skipped, and your sleep history are stored only on your phone. Deleting the app deletes them.
- Location is used to compute sunrise and sunset. It is never sent to us.
- The accelerometer is read only while the wind-down screen is open, to dim the screen when the phone is placed face down. Readings are not stored.
Apple Health (iPhone, optional)
Solwake uses Apple Health only after you connect it in Settings, and only for sleep. Apple asks you what to allow, and you can change that at any time in the Health app (your profile › Apps › Solwake).
- What it writes. Each night you marked with "I'm going to sleep" is saved to Health as time in bed, from that tap until you stopped the alarm. It never writes that you were asleep.
- What it reads. Sleep analysis only (time asleep, sleep stages, time in bed), to show your sleep and sleep efficiency on the stats screen.
- Where it goes. Nowhere. Health data is read and summarised on your phone, and the summary (minutes per night) is kept in the app's own storage, which is excluded from device backups. It is never sent to us, to our crash reporting or analytics providers, or to anyone else, and it is never used for advertising. The only thing analytics learns is that Health was connected, never a value from it.
- Removing it. Withdraw access in the Health app and Solwake stops reading and writing; the nights it wrote can be deleted there too. Deleting the app deletes its summary.
What leaves your device
- Weather. To show the cloud cover at sunrise, the app asks Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) for a forecast using rounded coordinates near your location. No identifier is attached to that request.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes, a report (device model, OS version, app version, the error) is sent to Sentry so we can fix it.
- Usage analytics. Anonymous product events such as "onboarding completed" or "paywall viewed" are sent to PostHog (EU servers). They carry a random installation id, never your name, email, or precise location.
- Purchases. Pro subscriptions are processed by the App Store or Google Play and validated by RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives the store receipt and a random app user id. We never see your payment details.
What we do not do
- No account, no email, no password.
- No advertising, no data sale, no cross-app tracking.
- No contacts, photos, or microphone access.
Your choices
- Location permission can be withdrawn in system settings; type a city instead.
- Apple Health access is changed or withdrawn in the Health app.
- Subscriptions are managed and cancelled in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
- Delete the app to remove all local data.
